Stephen West
Stephen West was first exposed to a natural disaster at 13 years old when he witnessed firsthand the destruction that hurricane Hugo waged on Charleston. This storm and many others like it provide the motivation for him to increase his education of the different design and construction techniques available that help minimize the damage from storms like this. He also enjoys educating clients and owners on the importance of the structural design and the benefits of having a knowledgeable structural engineer involved on each project. His design experience ranges from industrial to commercial to large residential structures where he enjoys finding creative ways to design these sometimes challenging structures.
When it’s time to take a break from design work, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family and exercising. On a warm day, you might even find him playing a little beach volleyball, boating or heading to a Clemson football game. He enjoys the great weather that South Carolina offers and looks for opportunities to get outdoors.
Eric Tobias
Eric Tobias had a unique beginning to his structural engineering career as he had the opportunity to work with Dr. Charles Lindbergh, PHD, PE for 5 years where he learned under his leadership to understand the development of seismic building codes and he was exposed to many challenging projects from investigating structures after natural disaster to designing complex industrial buildings.
Presently, with several professional degrees and many successful projects in hand, he still gets satisfaction with helping each client through the challenges they encounter with each new project. He thrives on interacting with new clients to help them make something out of nothing. He approaches each project with a fresh look and an experienced perspective. It has been his privilege to work on exciting projects like historic building restorations, new commercial office buildings, new industrial warehouses, new large custom residences on the barrier islands of SC and forensic investigations.
